U.S. Cattlemen's Association Remains Vigilant Against New World Screwworm and Harmful Imports

August 11, 2025

The U.S. cattle industry continues to watch the northward movement of New World Screwworm and efforts by the USDA its counterpart in Mexico to hopefully prevent it from spreading into the United States.

During the recent U.S. Cattlemen’s Association Summer Business Meeting, USCA president Justin Tupper from South Dakota talked about this new health threat for America’s cattle producers.

USCA also continues to push hard for Country-of-Origin labeling, so consumers have the choice to buy U.S. beef versus imported beef.

Like other Ag organizations, he says the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association is working with Congress and the Trump Administration to address concentration in the U.S. meat packing industry on behalf of cattle producers and consumers.
