Montana provided great speakers such as; Leslie Rispens, Acting Montana State FSA Director, Hannah Turner, Barley, Malt & Brewing Lab with Montana State University, and Jamie Sherman, Montana State University Barley Breeder. Laura Wood Peterson with LWP Consulting spoke about Climate, Carbon, Sustainability: Trends, Outlook & Impacts for Ag. Attendees also discussed policy, trade and grower and industry updates. Also noted was the fact China had stepped up their buying of all US commodities including malt and feed barley.

MGGA Secretary Boyd Heilig said, “My biggest take away from the meeting was how important sustainability statements have become in every form of business these days.  Heilig added, “Much time was spent drawing up a statement that fits the NBGA. Consumers are very concerned with the sustainability of the source of their food.”
