House Delays Farm Bill Vote Amid GOP Disagreements

April 29, 2026

House Republican leaders are hitting pause on the long-awaited farm bill after internal disagreements stalled action this week.

A planned vote was scrapped after pushback from some GOP members during a procedural vote, forcing leadership to pull the bill from the floor.

The agriculture policy package will now head back to the House Rules Committee as negotiations continue.

The delay comes as some Republicans push back on specific provisions in the bill, while others have been advocating for additional amendments and policy priorities.

One sticking point includes debate over whether to allow year-round sales of E15 fuel—a proposal that has drawn opposition from some conservative members.

Despite the setback, lawmakers say they hope to bring the farm bill back to the House floor in May following a scheduled weeklong recess.

Congress last passed a full Farm Bill in 2018.
