Preventing a Precedent: USFS Aerial Gunning of Estray Cattle

New Mexico ranchers are warning producers across the west of what they call a “blatant misuse” of the U.S. Forest Services role in resource management. The USFS has utilized aerial gunning to eradicate estray cattle in Gila National Wilderness and left the beef carcasses to rot. It’s a precedent the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association (NMCGA) wants to prevent on federal grazing lands nationwide.
NMCGA President-Elect Bronson Corn shared an update on the association’s lawsuit against the Federal Government for their previous and future planned eradication of cattle in Gila National Wilderness.
