Montana Beef Council and FFA Launch New Awards

November 4, 2026

The Montana Beef Council (MBC) and Montana FFA have teamed up in order to recognize six FFA chapters and three agricultural educators for their leadership, dedication, and contributions to Montana agriculture.

MBC, in partnership with Montana FFA, is introducing two recognition programs designed to celebrate outstanding FFA chapters and agricultural educators across the state. The Montana FFA Chapter of the Month and Prime Educator Award programs will recognize students and teachers whose leadership, accomplishments, and dedication are making a difference in Montana agricultural education.

“Montana's agricultural future is in good hands with the students and educators who make FFA such a meaningful part of our communities,” said Chaley Harney, executive director of the Montana Beef Council. “These programs are our way of celebrating their hard work, sharing their stories, and recognizing the important role agricultural education plays in connecting the next generation to the beef industry.”

In the Montana FFA Chapter of the Month program, beginning in December 2026, one FFA chapter will be recognized each month through May 2027. The program celebrates chapters demonstrating student leadership, community involvement, agricultural advocacy, and dedication to making a positive impact. Each winning chapter will receive a prize package featuring beef-themed goodies, FFA competition supplies, and useful classroom and travel necessities. Winning chapters will also have opportunities to share their accomplishments through interviews, photographs, and social media features highlighting their members and activities.

As for the Prime Educator Award, three Montana agricultural educators will be selected to receive specially equipped rolling toolkits filled with FFA competition materials, supplies for their shops or workspaces, and treats for their classrooms. Teachers at every stage of their careers are encouraged to apply, from first-year teachers to seasoned veterans. Applicants will have the opportunity to share their teaching experiences, program accomplishments, and the impact they have made on students. Applications close February 28, 2027. The three recipients are expected to be recognized at the Montana FFA State Convention in spring 2027.

“Behind every successful FFA chapter are dedicated educators and students who are passionate about agriculture and their communities,” said Abbey Wolenetz, Montana FFA Foundation Development and Operations Coordinator. “We are grateful to the Montana Beef Council for recognizing the importance of celebrating students’ and teachers’ hard work and achievements. This partnership not only honors their accomplishments but also helps inspire the future of Montana agriculture!”
