Jordan Match Bronc Ride Returns for 57th Year with World-Class Talent on Father's Day

June 17, 2026

One of Montana's premier rodeo traditions returns this Father's Day as the 57th Annual Jordan Match Bronc Ride prepares to welcome some of the top saddle bronc riders and bucking horses in the world to eastern Montana.

According to board member Rod Paschke, this year's Jordan Match Bronc Ride will once again feature an elite field of competitors as part of the Extreme Broncs Tour.

"We've got 24 of the top 32 saddle bronc riders in the world coming to Jordan," Paschke said. "There were a few scheduling conflicts with other rodeos, but we've still got an outstanding lineup of talent."

The event has become one of the most respected stand-alone saddle bronc riding competitions in the country, attracting top-ranked cowboys and some of the sport's most recognized bucking horse contractors.

World-class stock from J Bar J Rodeo, Pickett Pro Rodeo, and Canadian-based Legends Pro Rodeo will provide the horsepower for Sunday's competition.

"The horses are going to be world-class, as always," Paschke said. "We're bringing in some of the very best bucking horses in the business."

A Big Weekend for Jordan

While the bronc ride is the headline event, the entire weekend has become a major economic driver for the small eastern Montana community.

Paschke estimates the event brings between 1,200 and 1,400 visitors to Jordan each year, making it one of the town's busiest weekends.

"It's the biggest weekend that Jordan, Montana has all year," he said.

The festivities begin Saturday with the annual Country Select Horse Sale, which has quickly grown into a popular attraction in its own right.

"My wife and I, along with Beau Pearson and D.J. Martin, help put on the sale," Paschke explained. "This will be our third year, and we've got an outstanding lineup of horses."

Celebrating Rodeo's Classic Event

As rodeo continues to evolve with growing interest in events like bull riding, team roping, and barrel racing, Paschke believes saddle bronc riding remains the foundation of the sport.

"It's the backbone of rodeo," he said. "Everybody watches the bronc riding."

Fans attending this year's event will have the opportunity to watch many of the same competitors they see under the bright lights of the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Among the anticipated competitors is reigning superstar Sage Newman, who is currently enjoying one of the hottest stretches of his career.

"We get to bring the talent people watch on television every year in Vegas right here to small-town Montana," Paschke said. "That's pretty awesome."

With top-ranked riders, elite bucking horses, a thriving horse sale, and a community-wide celebration, the Jordan Match Bronc Ride continues to showcase the rich western heritage that has made it a Father's Day tradition for nearly six decades.
