New Big Bud Tractor Coming in March for Farmers
January 17, 2023
This week the buzz in farm country has been the news that Big Equipment Company in Havre, Mont. has partnered with Rome Agricultural and Construction Equipment in Cedartown, GA to build a new Big Bud tractor to be released in March 2023. Big Equipment Company’s Ron Harmon says that one of the primary objectives is to provide a tractor that has components that can be repaired by farmers, general mechanics or dealerships without restrictions.
"We just felt that one of the issues out there in farm country is the inability to fix and repair your own equipment" said Harmon. "There's limitations, passwords and electronics that keep you from being able to fix and repair your own tractor. We thought it was time to come up with a Big Bud again with a fold up cab and hood and removable powertrain components and standard components off the shelf that anybody can work on and repair."
He says they're proud to team up with Rome Agricultural and Construction Equipment to build these new Big Bud Tractors in Havre.
"We actually are using the heaviest components drive components we've ever had" said Harmon. "Our first model is going to be a 640 horse. This model can go from 640 to 750 and with a CAT engine with a 18 speed CAT heavy duty power shift and big huge 988 CAT axles. So, it'll be all CAT drive components, but again it doesn't have to be Caterpillar mechanic who can only work on them."
The new 2023 640 Big Bud will house all Caterpillar drive components including:
-1.5 " thick frame with an approximate weight of 70,000 lbs.
-C-18 engine with capable horsepower range between 640-750 HP
-CAT TA22 HD 18 speed power shift transmission
-CAT 988 HD axles (the largest of any Big Bud Tractor or other tractors built)
There will be various wheel/tire options, including Titan LSW 1100/45R 46 tires.
The new Big Bud will be featured at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG International Construction Trade Show in Las Vegas this March.
