Elmer Fudd to No Longer have Gun in 'Looney Toons' Cartoons

Elmer Fudd will no longer carry a gun in HBO Max's collection of shorts WFLA News reports.

According to the New York Times, the first short, titled "Dynamite Dance" will have the feel of an old school Looney Tunes episode.

Bugs Bunney goes after Elmer with dynamite, but Fudd will no longer carry his gun and Yosemite Sam will no longer carry his pistols.

“We’re not doing guns,” series executive producer Peter Browngardt said.

News of the change to the character went viral on social media Sunday.

Browngardt did say that "cartooney violence," like explosive TNT will still be in the show because it was "grandfathered in" to Looney Toons.
