CALL TO ACTION: Wild Horse and Burro Comment Opportunity!

June 29, 2026

Earlier this month, BLM issued a request for information to inform a programmatic environmental review of its Wild Horse and Burro Program. BLM is seeking public comments on an environmental review examining humane, science-based ways to manage wild horse and burro herds on public lands.

This is not a decision document—it will not authorize any immediate actions on the ground. Instead, it will streamline the NEPA process by providing baseline analyses for future site-specific reviews, allowing those analyses to focus more on local conditions while maintaining rigorous environmental standards. This approach is intended to reduce unnecessary delays and redundant analyses, lower taxpayer costs, and improve outcomes for wild horse and burro herds and public lands.
